What are innovative ways that technology can be integrated into Health Education?

I believe the future of Health Education will rely on the integration of technology. In a technology based society, kids are more likely to stay indoors to play video games, use the computer, text on a cell phone, or just watch television instead of reading books, and using traditional study habits. So as health educators, we must find effective ways to link core health concepts to classroom technology to motivate our students. Therefore, I think is imperative that we use 21st century resources such as classroom websites, podcasts, wikis, blogs, and webquests. We as educators must be a "technology step" ahead of our students in order to foster technology rich learning. What changes would you make to the Health Education curriculum in your state?

As a secondary health education teacher, one of the reoccurring debates is focused on abstinence only vs. comprehensive sex education . The argument for both approaches to sexual education has become highly controversial as this debate has risen to the forefront of health education rhetoric around the country. Although the decision on which approach is most appropriate is ultimately left up to the state policy, we have seen increased parent-lead advocacy amongst local school districts.  What other areas of your state's health education curriculum do you find controversial? Do these issues pose a need to make changes to the curriculum?
